Children Profiles
1. NICOLE AKOTH
Nicole was born in 2008. The mother gave birth to her and abandoned her due to psychiatric complication. She was rescued by a Good Samaritan who brought her to the center when she was two days old. Since then, nobody has made a follow up. Nicole is now three years old. Nicole takes her time before getting used to a visitor or socialize to other people she doesn’t know.
2. CHRISTINE ANYANGO
Christine also known as Tina at the center was born on 27th 2008. Tina was born in a single mother who was also an orphan and was still a class five student in primary school. The mother then buried her alive and what kept Tina breathing was the placenta. Christine was then rescued immediately and was brought to the center from day one old. It is always our prayer that she grows up and be a living testimony. The mother has never bothered to visit Tina and nobody knows her where about
3. EDWARD MAKENZI
Edward known as Edu by most of the children at the center was born in. Edward’s mother died and he was rescued while really dehydrated. Due to the negligence he had in the hands of the father, Edward took two years while down as he could not walk. Edward joined the center in March 2008. When he was rescued, he was taken to the hospital. Edu can now walk and joined Nursery school.
4. DAVID ODONGO
David was born on 1/4/99 is the eighth born in a family of ten children. He has a twin brother called Jonathan. David known as Dave was born normally without any complication but at age two he went blind. Sadly enough, his mother died leaving him behind with an irresponsible drunkard father. David’s father then neglected him as per his condition and Dave was rescued when the father wanted to throw him on the road for a fast moving vehicle to knock him dead. This is when Dave was admitted at ACDP on 26/1/04. He was emaciated and malnourished in inception and was given proper treatment. Dave is now healthy and happy. As his blindness was brought about by malnourishment, he has not recovered his eye sight since efforts to visit many eye specialists failed but he is happy as he also goes to school like other kids. Dave is in St Oda school for the blind Aluor where he has learnt a lot and can play with others who have got sight. He now has seven years in the program and in STD 2. Dave is very bright in school, he is friendly and very talkative. Though he reacts when annoyed.
5. REHEMA MOHAMMED
Rehema was born in 2005. She was found abandoned with her mother and her two other siblings by the road side in Kisumu. The mother was sick and was going to look for her brother at a place she didn’t know. They were all rescued by Rev Kenneth, brought to Amani in the year 2009 but the mother died two weeks later. Rehema has been left at Amani as her only home since nobody knows her background or relatives. She is now in STD 2. Rehema is polite and very respectful.
6. EMMANUEL NYANGAO
Emmanuel was born in 15/5/99. He is the fifth born in a family of six. Emmanuel is a total orphan and was left under the care of an old grandmother who was living under very poor condition. He is a hard worker and always in top position in class. Very polite and intelligent. He was brought at the center on 1/6/06. He has now stayed at the orphanage for four and a half years. Wants to be a Doctor. He is now in std 6.
